Flow Field Analysis and Feasibility Study of a Multistage Centrifugal Pump Designed for Low-Viscous Fluids

نویسندگان

چکیده

A multistage centrifugal pump is designed for pumping low-viscosity, highly volatile and flammable chemicals, including hydrocarbons, high head requirements. The five-stage consists of a double-suction impeller at the first stage followed by twin volute. impellers stages two through five are single-suction diffuser vanes return channel vanes. analytical performance calculated initially in design applying similarity laws to an existing scaled-down model low flow rate applications. proposed investigated using computational fluid dynamics tools study its off-design conditions water as base fluid. feasibility tested other fluids, such temperature pressure, diesel debutanized diesel. found be suitable variety fluids operating ranges. losses analyzed each best efficiency point. observed higher second than stages. detailed behavior studied identify root cause losses. Design modifications recommended diminish improve overall pump.

Experimental Study and Three-Dimensional Numerical Flow Simulation in a Centrifugal Pump when Handling Viscous Fluids

In this paper the centrifugal pump performances are tested when handling water and viscous oils as Newtonian fluids. Also, this paper shows a numerical simulation of the three-dimensional fluid flow inside a centrifugal pump. For these numerical simulations the SIMPLEC algorithm is used for solving governing equations of incompressible viscous/turbulent flows through the pump. The k-ε turbulenc...

impeller trimming of an industrial centrifugal viscous oil pump

abstract: impeller trimming is a proper way to alter the performance of centrifugal pump with a constant speed so as to meet the demand on the specified flow rate and head in pumping systems. the affinity law accounting for the impeller trimming is the key relation to determine the pump performance with a trimmed impeller. there seems no experimental study dealing with such an affinity law for ...

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

fabrication of new ion sensitive field effect transistors (isfet) based on modification of junction-fet for analysis of hydronium, potassium and hydrazinium ions

a novel and ultra low cost isfet electrode and measurement system was designed for isfet application and detection of hydronium, hydrazinium and potassium ions. also, a measuring setup containing appropriate circuits, suitable analyzer (advantech board), de noise reduction elements, cooling system and pc was used for controlling the isfet electrode and various characteristic measurements. the t...
